Get ready, for the vicious ladies are back! With intimidating looks and deadly stares, these ladies are out to get you. Meet them, love them, or hate them. They are the terrible but beautiful antagonists of “Sinasamba Kita.” Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos by Mitch Mauricio. Who wouldn’t be scared of Bing Loyzaga’s arched eyebrows or Jackie Lou Blanco’s piercing eyes? Adept at playing the antagonists in the story, these two got their niche in show business by portraying the ever-important kontrabida roles. starsIn GMA’s newest drama offering, Sinasamba Kita, Jackie Lou and Bing play the roles of the scheming sisters who will make life a living hell for Nora (Valerie Concepcion). Directed by no less than Joel Lamangan, Sinasamba kita, is GMA’s first sine novela venture. Starring Sheryl Cruz as Divina and Valerie Concepcion as Nora, the story was lifted from the award winning movie of Vilma Santos and Lorna Tolentino. Evil sisters To add spice and life to the story, the writers added the characters of Sylvia and Isabellita in the sine novela. Jackie Lou plays Sylvia, the mother of Divina and the legal wife of Don Jose Ferrer. Bing Loyzaga, on the other hand, is Isabellita, the sister of Sylvia. “At first, nakikisali lang ako kay Sylvia, fighting for her right for the mana. Tapos, eventually magkakaroon ng accident, may mangyayari sa kapatid ko tapos doon ako magkakalat ng lagim,” shares Bing Loyzaga while impishly smiling at us.starsBoth their characters were not in the movie, but were added in the TV series to give depth to the story. “Since this is a series, nilagay yung character ko, I play the role of Sylvia. Anak ko dito si Divina, si Sheryl. When Mark Gil and I separate, she chooses to stay with her dad. So I go to the States, and years after, when Mark Gil dies, I come back and I am reunited with her,” explains Jackie Lou. On being a kontrabida Both actresses don’t mind being stereotyped as the mean ladies of show business and even revel in the fact that they get the juicy roles to play. “Ang maganda dun hindi masyado ang pressure sa kontrabida. Di ba kung bida ka, make or break yan eh, ang kontrabida, wala. Wait lang ako ng next project, ganun ka lang ‘di ba? Of course malaki ang responsibility mo, you have to make the movie work. You have to do your role pero the outcome is more on the bida, that’s why I love it, kahit sino pa ang bida na dumating,” says Bing. stars For her part, Jackie Lou adds “For me naman, a role is a role, and it may be similar to the other things that you have done but it’s up to you on how you will put touches to make it different.” Truly, these ladies enjoy being the antagonists, but don’t be fooled by their mean demeanor. They may be scheming in front of the camera, but behind it, they are accomplished individuals who are to be admired.
