Marjorie Barretto defends her children

Marjorie Barretto has spoken out, responding to her ex-husband Dennis Padilla's public comments regarding their daughter Claudia Barretto's wedding.

The actress claimed that her ex-husband has a history of being abusive. Marjorie recalled an incident that led to physical abuse.

"He was physically abusive to me. I have been quiet for 18 years. Dennis, you were physically abusive. He has a very bad temper. And I'm sure maraming makakaalam nito, kung gaano siya ka-nakakatawa sa mga tao, 'yun 'yung opposite niya," Marjorie revealed.

"Konting bagay na away, manununtok na 'yan, mananampal na 'yan. My kids saw that. The biggest physical abuse he did to me was when Julia was a few days old. Kapapanganak ko pa lang sa kanya."

Marjorie went on, recalling how it happened, "Galit siya [Dennis] sa akin, parang I complained about something, naglalakad ako... I don't know why I'm telling you this, I never spoke about this.

"Naglalakad ako papasok ng kwarto, from the back, he hit me so hard, ang laking tao ni Dennis ah, he hit me so hard in my ear, lumipad talaga ako, kasi hindi ako nakailag eh. Nawala talaga 'yung ear drum ko. Julia was days old."

She added that until now she has had ear complications because of the incident, "Up to this day, I suffer that. Wala akong ear drum eh. Na-surgery 'yun, sa sobrang lakas ng impact niya.

"I had to go through a surgery where they had to recreate an ear drum, they had to get a portion of my skull, to make it an ear drum.

"In one infection of the ear--because I'm prone to that, nawala na naman 'yung ear drum.

"Everytime my kids see that, they are reminded of what a father he is."

Marjorie Barretto emphasized that she did not break her silence because she wanted to make the situation all about her.

"But this is not about me, my children have been estranged from him for many years."

Marjorie said despite their separation, Dennis was allowed to meet his children, contrary to his claims that he wasn't allowed to see them.

"For the first 18 years, he would see the kids freely."

She recalled how her children's' relationship became strained as he started complaining in media interviews about his children, particularly about Julia Barretto.

Marjorie revealed, "Julia would lose endorsements sa paninira niya."

“My kids' trigger is their father. His voice alone nanginginig sila. It's not my story to tell, it's my children's to tell. Years of therapy 'yan. There are so many things hindi niyo alam na pinagdadaanan namin diyan kay Dennis,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dennis also has an interview with Ogie Diaz, where he aired his side of the story, and shared his grievances about not being allowed to walk Claudia down the aisle on her wedding march.
