Actor Paulo Avelino recently reunited with Ethan Akio Reyes or Aki, his son with ex-girlfriend LJ Reyes, on a recent trip to New York.

In an Instagram story, Paulo shared his visit to Aki's school.

Father and son seemed to have hung out a bit after that, with Paulo marveling at Aki's independence.

"Weird to see this little boy so independent. Don't grow up so fast. ," he wrote on Instagram with a photo of the two of them.

Eleven-year-old Aki has been living in New York with his mom LJ and his sister Summer since September last year.

In a previous interview, LJ stressed the importance of training her kids to be independent.

"Iba talaga ang experience ng mga bata every stage of their life, iba-iba talaga. Merong maganda every stage at meron ding mahirap.

"Siyempre, ngayon is just another stage of Aki. Ngayon lang talagang pandemic, talagang as much as you should have built and installed 'yung character nila, younger years like around four, five ganyan, ngayon kakaibang character building kasi adolescent period na.

"So kailangan talaga hindi na sila bine-baby. You are really preparing them for the future," LJ explained.
