Start-Up PH star Yasien Kurdi admitted that her plans to have a second child have been put on hold, mostly because of the pandemic, and because of her and her husband, Rey Soldevilla Jr.'s busy schedules.
In an online interview on Kalurks with Boobay and Pepita Curtis, Yasmien admitted that they were about to try for a second baby after Ayesha's seventh birthday, but was advised not to as the pandemic has just started at the time.
"Sabi sa amin ng pedia na wag na lang muna kasi yung surge nung time na yun, medyo natatakot din kami,” she said.
It didn't help that she and her husband work schedules started to get busier and busier over time that trying for another baby was out of the question. Her daughter Ayesha never asked for a baby brother or sister, anyway.
“Though sa amin, yung bata, hindi rin naman humihingi ng kapatid. Parang okey naman siya, masaya naman siya mag isa,” she said.
Yasmien added that as an only child, she did not know how it feels to have siblings.
“Kung ibibigay, it's a blessing,” she added.
The Starstruck alum also said that while she spoils Ayesha from time to time, she also disciplines her if needed, adding that her daughter is more afraid of her than Rey.
“Mabait ako sa kanya kung mabait pero pag nagalit ako, sobrang galit,” she said.
Yasmien, however, expresses the importance of communicating with her child and understanding how she feels.
“Kailangan open communication din kayo with your kid para nalalaman mo kung ano yung mga concerns niya, kung saan ka makakatulong,” she said.
As for Ayesha using social media and gadgets, Yasmien admits that it's fine with her, especially since it's now the new normal. She cited Ayesha's online classes as an example where one of her projects was to do a TikTok video.
“Minsan nga, pag aarte-arte sila, ako pa nga minsan yung ekstra sa ano nila e,” she said.
She added that she's hands-on with the needs of Ayesha and assists her as much as she can with her projects or assignments.
