Vlogger Teena Arches gives style advice to women with curves.

Vlogger Teena Arches, widely known for her AngKikayKo channel, has gained popularity over the years for her makeup tutorials and fashion hauls. Aside from her two million followers on the video-sharing site, Teena is also known for her body positivity movement, “Maganda ako, period.”

Glow Up council member Michelle Dee recently caught up with Arches about the style advice women with curves - plus size or not - need to know about getting dressed.

Read on for her top five style tips for curvy women:

1. Strike a balance between too tight and too loose

“I like clothes that shape my body. Minsan dinadaya ko sa waist para mas lumabas 'yung aking pagka-curvy,” she says. “Like what I'm wearing now, it's black pero may skin dito sa legs so meron siyang illusion.”

2. Wear fitted pants, not leggings

Leggings are not pants, period. So, get a pair of comfy skinny jeans or jeggings instead in the color black. Michelle Dee shares, “Alam naman nating nakakapayat ang black and if you wear fitted pants, it makes your legs look skinnier.”

3. No outfit is complete without the right shoes

“When you have the right pair of heels, nagmumukha siya kaagad na matangkad and mas nagmumukha siyang mahaba,” adds Michelle. So, pay attention to the lines of your shoes and avoid straps around the ankles because it can make the legs shorter. A classic pump in neutral color will give you the cleanest line and make the legs look longest.

4. Find something to accentuate

Teena advices, “Look at the neckline. If you show more skin, most especially the cleavage, it gives the illusion of a longer neck.” Michelle agrees and adds, “The more you know your assets and show a little more skin it will create the illusion of longer features.”

5. “Maganda ako, period”

Lastly, confidence is key. Teena claims, “Kahit ano pa 'yung isuot mo, you need to know na maganda ka talaga kahit ano pa 'yan --kahit ano pang color, sikip, whatever. Whatever you wear, you need to be confident and it has to come from within.”
