
While under community quarantine, Prima Donnas actress Aiko Melendez shocked netizens when she posted a photo on Instagram which showed her slimmer figure.
According to Aiko, she went on a calorie-counting diet during the quarantine and she shared her daily eating habits.
“Lahat ng mga tao, usually, ganitong quarantine, ang ginawa, kumain nang kumain,” Aiko said on her vlog.
“Ako, binaliktad ko. Nagpapayat ako. Gusto ko maging healthy ako at gusto ko pagbalik ko sa TV via Prima Donnas, masa-shock ang tao sa akin dahil kalahating tao ang makikita nila kay Kendra.”
In the first month of her diet, Aiko went for as low as 500 calories per day, eating one hard-boiled day every breakfast and lunch.
In the second month, after achieving her desired weight, she went to 1000 calories per day, mainly eating fruits and vegetables.
“Ito ang first meal ko for today, blackberries,” she explained.
“Since 10:30 na ng umaga, I decided na brunch na yan. So, mga kakainin ko niyan mga tatlong piraso.
“So, kapag kinount mo 'yan sa calorie mo, mga 100 grams, mga nasa 100 [calories] yan.
“E, hindi ko naman mauubos 'yung 100 grams niyan, so nasa less than 100 yan.
“So in a day, pwede ako ng 1000 [calories], so ima-minus ko 'yan.”
For lunch, Aiko ate strawberries to feed her hunger.
“It's currently 3 p.m., and this is normally the time that I get hungry so ngayon kalaban ko ang oras na 'to, kailangan ko piliin ang pagkain na kakainin ko,” she said.
“Itong piece ng strawberry is nasa 4 [calories] ang count. So, medyo mababa lang so okay lang para mawala lang 'yung gutom ko at hilo ko.”
If you're trying a calorie count diet but still crave foods that you see in social media, Aiko gave a tip to solve that problem.
“Important tip doon sa mga nagugutom lalo na kapag nagda-diet, get a glass of water and then mag-squeeze kayo ng lemon,” Aiko advised.
“Because that's supposed to suppress your appetite para mawala niya 'yung hunger pangs na tinatawag, 'yun 'yung urge niyong kumain.
“Kasi minsan, 'pag nanonood tayo ng TV, 'di ba, nakikita natin, 'Wow! Ang sarap nun kainin,' 'di ba?
“'Yung mind natin has five minutes para gustuhin natin 'yung pagkain na 'yun pero bigyan niyo ng another five minutes para ialis niyo sa utak niyo na hindi niyo talaga gusto kainin 'yon.
“Kasi 'yun yung sinasabi nating cravings lang.”
Despite having high blood pressure, Aiko still managed to lose weight while maintaining her blood pressure.
