Consumers will now have easier access to affordable local farm and fishery products through the online version of the Kadiwa store: the eKadiwa.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) and members of the private sector have teamed up to launch eKadiwa, an online marketing platform that connects producers and agripreneurs to consumers.
The interface of the eKadiwa is pretty similar to other online shopping platforms that people are accustomed to.

Consumers have the option to pay through cash-on-delivery (COD) or bank transfer. And DA is said to be negotiating with commercial banks to effect payment via credit card.
The purchased goods will initially be delivered via Mober, Inc. and they are anticipating a peak of 20,000 deliveries per day in Metro Manila.
Other transport and delivery service providers have also shown interest in joining the eKadiwa project, such as Lalamove and Grab.
The first three merchants to become part of eKadiwa are AgriNurture, Inc. (ANI), Zagana, Inc., and Benjabi Ventures Corporation.
Antonio Tiu, President and CEO of ANI, said: “This is an opportunity for us to showcase our 'bayanihan' spirit and take part in the agriculture sector's paradigm shift towards modernization. This is a good example of a successful public-private partnership.”
The eKadiwa will firstly cover Metro Manila and then, later on, expand to other urban areas in the country.
“In the coming days, we expect to partner with more farmers' and fishers' groups, and merchants. Individual sellers or producers' groups can also register as vendors for free at the eKadiwa site, and this would enable us to reach more customers,” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar.
So, if you want to stay safe at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic, you should consider buying online through the eKadiwa.
Not only will you get to buy fresh, nutritious, and affordable farm and fishery products, but you will also be supporting the local producers and agripreneurs.
