Yakitori from Wolf Children

Here is a recipe based on the yakitori seen in the anime 'Wolf Children.'

Wolf Children is a touching 2012 anime film about young mother Hana who tries to raise her two half-human half-wolf children, Ame and Yuki, after the death of her werewolf husband Ookami.

The animated film won the 2013 Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, the 2012 Mainichi Film Award for Best Animation Film, and the 2013 Animation of the Year award at Tokyo International Anime Fair.

It has also bagged a few awards outside Japan like the Silver Mirror and the audience award at the Oslo Films from the South festival in Norway in 2012, the 2014 Best Anime Disc award from Home Media Magazine and the Audience Award at 2013 New York International Children's Film Festival.

In a scene from the anime, Hana and Ookami are seen eating yakitori or chicken skewers. The scene also shows the young couple dipping them in sauce which is served in a tall glass.

Korean food vlogger Moviekitchen made a recipe based on the yakitori seen in the anime.

Here's how to make it.

Ingredients
300 grams of chicken thighs
green onions
bell peppers of different colors
soy sauce
refined rice wine
ginger powder
pepper
mirin
sugar

Procedure
1. Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces after removing the fat
2. Marinate chicken with pepper, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons refined rice wine and ginger powder
3. Cut all vegetables into bite-size pieces
4. Prepare the yakitori by alternating chicken and vegetables in a skewer
5. Grill the yakitori over fire or in a pan with a bit of cooking oil in medium-low fire
6. Make sauce by mixing 1 part soy sauce, 1 part refined rice wine, 1 part mirin, and 1/2 part sugar
7. Boil the mixture in low heat until it thickens then serve in a tall glass for dipping
