Who knew the favorite Pinoy breakfast dish 'tuyo' or dried fish can be an ingredient of the world-famous Italian pesto sauce?

Jun Jay Sanlao of Baguio City, owner of Cheche's Gourmet, recently shared her 'pestuyo' (pesto + tuyo) recipe in Pinas Sarap's ECQusina show on Facebook.

It's a 5-ingredient recipe and it's super easy to prepare. This pesto recipe is perfect for newbie cooks and those who always on the go.

Here are the five ingredients:

1) basil
2) garlic
3) peanuts
4) olive oil
5) tuyo

And here are the 3 steps in making pesto sauce.

1) Put the basil, garlic, peanuts, and olive oil in the food processor and blend well.
2) Saute the tuyo in garlic and oil.
3) Once tuyo is golden brown, add the blended mixture.

Pesto sauce is a well-loved sauce for pasta, but it can also be used as a sandwich spread, salad dressing, garnish, dip, pizza topping, or even as filling.
