Tuna is a go-to food of those who are on a diet as it is high in protein and low in fat and carbohydrates.
And since it's affordable and easily accessible, it has become a staple in most Filipino kitchens.
Usually, it is sautéed or used as an ingredient for tuna sandwiches. But it can also be used as an ingredient for a tasty pasta dish.
In the latest episode of Pinas Sarap's online cooking show on Facebook, ECQusina, host Kara David shared her pasta recipe, which uses canned tuna and the famous Italian pesto sauce.
If you want to recreate Kara's Tuna Pesto Pasta, here are the ingredients you'll need:
Canned tuna flakes in oil
Pasta
Pesto sauce
Onions
Garlic
Olives
Capers
Mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese
Salt
Pepper
Butter
In the ECQusina episode, Kara used penne pasta, but she emphasized that you can also use other kinds of pasta.
Plus, Kara said that you can get creative and add more ingredients that you like such as mushrooms.
