The possibilities are endless when it comes to reinventing food.
With a little imagination and creativity, leftover meals can be actually transformed to a new and exciting dish especially now that we limit the times of going out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is what TV host Tonipet Gaba did with his leftover fried chicken. From being bland and unappetizing, he managed to make it into a delectable chicken sisig which is very easy to make.
With a few ingredients and short cooking time, who knows, Tonipet's leftover chicken sisig recipe can be your new go-to meal. Here's how to make it:
INGREDIENTS
Leftover chicken
Salt and pepper
Diced red onion
Calamansi juice
Soy sauce
Chili or roasted chili garlic sauce
Mayonnaise
Hard-boiled eggs
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the bones from the leftover chicken and rub with salt and pepper. If the chicken skin is still intact, combine it with the meat for added flavor.
2. Pan fry the meat for a few minutes before chopping it into pieces.
3. Saute red onions until translucent then add the chicken meat. Stir fry.
4. Season with calamansi juice, soy sauce, and chili or roasted chili garlic sauce, depending on your taste. Add a spoonful of mayonnaise for tanginess.
5. Mix the ingredients together. Once the seasonings emulsify, turn off the heat and plate.
6. Add sliced hard boiled eggs as toppings.
According to Tonipet, he has learned how to prepare his own food since the community quarantine started.
Living alone with no helpers, he has the option to take delivery services from restaurants but he chose not to because it's more costly than cooking his own food--a smart move that immensely changed his life.
