It's a new year and people are on diet mode. After binging on lechon and cakes during holiday festivities and gaining extra weight as a result, people are now more conscious about what they eat.
In the next few weeks, at least.
Starting a diet plan is a bit of a challenge and although there are healthy meal plans available for delivery, they don't suit everyone. Going vegetarian or vegan is also a big step only a brave few are willing to take.
One of the easiest ways to start eating healthy is by consuming more vegetables, particularly, nutrient-rich salads. Aside from vegetables, most salads contain fruits, nuts, cheese, eggs, and lean proteins--all healthy ingredients for a perfect diet meal.
There's a lot of vegetable salad options out there, even fast food chains have salad offerings. There's plenty to choose from but there are only a few shops that make appetizing and filling salads. GMA Lifestyle lists down eateries that specialize in these healthy meals and offer unique and flavorful variants that can be delivered straight to your house.
SaladStop!
SaladStop! is one of the more popular salad places in the metro. The healthy eatery originated from Singapore and opened shop in the Philippines a few years ago. They offer signature salads but diners can also customize their own.
One of its signature salads is the Oh Crab Lah, which is a mix of romaine lettuce, crab sticks, eggs, cherry tomatoes, croutons, red onions, and Singapore chili crab dressing.
Another is the Man-Go Wild, a mix of romaine, crab sticks, green mango, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, white turnip, red onions, yellow raisins, fried garlic, and mango vinaigrette.
All of their signature salads also come in wrap form. They likewise offer grain salads like quinoa and brown rice.
They have several branches in Metro Manila and Cebu City. You can order their food via Food Panda or Grab Food.
Go Salads
Go Salads has several stores in Metro Manila and mainly offers salads, smoothies, fresh juices, and paninis.
They have various salad options including unique ones like the Bayani Salad which is a mix of greens, sweet corn kernels, candied cashews, chicken adobo flakes, and soy sesame dressing. There's also the Sgt. Steak Salad, which has strips of seared steak, sautéed mushrooms, greens, and a chimichurri dressing.
The eatery offers meal sets as well for groups so you can eat healthy with the whole family.
Order directly on their website and you can either pick-up the order up at select branches or have them delivered. They are also available on Grab Food and Food Panda.
Juju Eats
Offering some of the most appetizing-looking salads in the metro, Juju Eats is a healthy shop that offers a variety of good-for-you eats and drinks.
Aside from salads, they also offer cold pressed juices, smoothies, and pasta and rice bowls.
They have regular salads like Greek and niçoise but they also offer unique bowls of greens like the Inasal Salad (greens, chicken, green mango, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, red onions, boiled egg, and Balayan dressing) and the Ay Caramba (greens, Southwest chicken, nacho chops, jalapeno, red kidney beans, corn, salsa, grated cheddar, and ay caramba dressing).
Customers can order from their website or via Food Panda and Grab Food.
Medley Modern Mediterranean
This one specializes in Mediterranean food and offers pita sandwiches, falafel, and even pizza. They have Power Bowls, which are complete meals composed of proteins, hummus, and several vegetables.
They only have three types of salads: Naked Falafel Salad (mixed greens, chickpeas, red bell pepper, spring onions, fresh herbs, mint leaves, and pita chips), Smoked Paprika Shrimp Salad (mixed greens, smoked paprika shrimp, Israeli salad, fried eggplant, pita chips, bulgur wheat, and feta cheese), and Greek Salad (mixed greens, feta cheese, Israeli salad, marinated mixed olives, pita cheese, and sumac spice).
Customers can choose the dressing they want to go with the salad. They have a choice between tahini, garlic, zhug (spicy green dressing with cilantro and parsley), mamba (sweet and spicy), and lemon garlic.
You can order directly from their website but they only deliver in select locations in Metro Manila namely Taguig, Makati, Mandaluyong, and parts of Pasig and Pasay. Medley is also available on Food Panda.
