Jasmine Curtis Smith admits that she can somehow relate to the lead character in the upcoming movie A Glimpse of Forever named Dante.

In this Viva Films offering, Jasmine will play the role of Glenda, who is frustrated with her fiancé, so she tries to find companionship through a virtual dating studio called ForeVR. Among the virtual guys shown to her, Glenda chooses the least favorite Dante a.k.a. “The Boy Next Door,” who experiences a social anxiety disorder.

“Not clinically, anxiety, yes,” said Jasmine during the movie's media conference held recently.

She continued, “But yung social core, I think, naka-counteract ko yung anxiety when I am chatty. Nao-overcompensate ko siya with my being… ayan, long answers, hahabaan ko pa, madaming explanation para mas maintindihan n'yo ako. Ayan na yun, yun ang version nun.”

The Asawa ng Asawa Ko actress also said that like many others, she also gets anxious even on a regular day.

“Yung same as the character in the film, na mahihirapan kang mag-function daily even in a regular setting workplace, thankfully, hindi pa siya ganun kalala for me.

“Siguro mga situational na lang, na talagang tensed na tensed ka kasi, 'Oh my God, natatakot ako sa director na ito, sa produer na 'to. Ayun… sige, baka humaba pa yung SAD ko.”

To overcome this condition, Jasmine learned to communicate her thoughts better.

She mentioned, “Naka-relate ako sa character siguro kasi sa past relationships ko, not just romantic but also friendship and relationship with parents. Communication can be difficult kapag hindi mo kayang i-bring up yung truth or kung ano talaga yung gusto mong i-address na concern--na matagal nang naghi-hinder sa 'yo mag-progress as a person or even as unit with your friends, parents, or partner in life.

“So, for a while, nahihirapan akong mag-communicate ng maayos to assist myself and the person I need to resolve my issues with.

“Tulad ni Glenda rito, kaya pumupunta siya sa virtual reality. May ways din akong ganun, not the virtual reality, but I'll go talk to a therapist or I'll go talk to someone else na ganung klaseng authority na position that can guide me. Ganun, naghahanap ako ng ways to solve what's in front of me.”

While it could be a long process, Jasmine stressed that what's important is, “I never give up.”
