“Being vegan for a year now has truly helped us improve our lives so much. We have way more energy, our digestion, and metabolism work faster and we just feel so much better overall.

“Knowing that we can enjoy the food we eat without having to cause pain and suffering to other living beings just brings us so much peace and happiness,” she said.

Maxene, who is also a yogi, said that what inspired her to shift to the vegan diet was yoga's “moral codes.”

“One of the moral codes we follow in yoga known as “ahimsa,” which means non-violence in Sanskrit, is what got us to make this shift in our diet. It states that we are not supposed to cause harm to other living beings,” she continued.

But more than the health benefits she gains from eating only plant-based food, she noted that it helped her become more mindful of what she consumes.

“It also helps us become kinder and more compassionate as we truly believe that what we eat becomes our energy so consuming only cruelty-free food allows us to vibrate in the same kind of frequency,” she added.

She likewise bared that she stopped using things that are made from animal products such as “leather, silk, and wool.”

But despite sharing these thoughts, Maxene clarified that her message is not to “judge or preach” since the world still makes use of animals for human consumption.

“We are just sharing our story for those who might be interested in this path as this is one of the ways we try to contribute goodness to the world,” she said.

Being vegan for a year now has truly helped us improve our lives so much. We have way more energy, our digestion and metabolism work faster and we just feel so much better overall. Knowing that we can enjoy the food we eat without having to cause pain and suffering to other living beings just brings us so much peace and happiness. One of the moral codes we follow in yoga known as “ahimsa,” which means non-violence in Sanskrit, is what got us to make this shift in our diet. It states that we are not supposed to cause harm to other living beings. One of our yoga teachers @govinda_dev_das introduced this word to us last year and explained the law of karma which states that whatever energy we put out, whether it is good or bad, we get back. More than the health benefits that we gain from eating only plant-based food, this diet also helps us become mindful as we consciously choose what we put inside our bodies instead of just giving in to worldly pleasures. It also helps us become kinder and more compassionate as we truly believe that what we eat becomes our energy so consuming only cruelty-free food allows us to vibrate in the same kind of frequency. Aside from food, we also don't use any kind of animal products anymore such as leather, silk and wool. People often ask us if it is hard to be vegan and for us, it really isn't simply because we believe that all living beings deserve to be happy and free. If the intention is pure and clear, going vegan will become naturally easy. We understand though that the world today still makes use of animals for human consumption so we are not here to judge or preach. We are just sharing our story for those who might be interested in this path as this is one of the ways we try to contribute goodness to the world. Namaste! 🙏🏼 #RobMaxxVegan
