Volleyball star Aby Maraño tweets support for her fellow Filipinos competing in the SEA Games.

“Laban lang.”

This is the battle cry of former De La Salle University Lady Spiker Aby Maraño, who will compete in the Women's Indoor Volleyball competition in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Aby and the rest of the Pinay squad are aiming for a podium finish as the country last won a medal in the said competition in 2005. The Philippines bagged the bronze medal in that year.

The middle blocker tweeted a message of support to her fellow athletes competing in the biennial multi-sport event.

“Dear Philippine Athletes, ramdam ko rin yung pagod. Sobra. Ramdam ko yung frustration ng mga tao pero kaya pa. Keep your eyes on the prize as they say. Stay focus. Konting sakripisyo pa PARA SA BAYAN.

“Laban lang okay? Yakap, tara dito ”

The women's volleyball squad is composed of opposite spikers Jovelyn Gonzaga, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mylene Paat, open spikers Alyssa Valdez, Ces Molina, and Eya Laure. The setters are Rhea Dimaculangan and Jia Morado, while the liberos will be Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado. Manning the net are middle blockers Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, Maddie Madayag and Maraño.

Meanwhile, 5-time UAAP MVP Marck Espejo, who is part of the men's volleyball line-up, tweeted a photo of the medals that will be awarded, which he said is his source of motivation.

The men's national team is loaded with talent too led by Espejo, Bryan Bagunas, John Vic De Guzman, Mark Alfafara, Joshua Umandal, Ran Abdilla, Ish Polvorosa, Jessie Lopez, Joshua Retamar, Kim Malabunga, Francis Saura, Rex Intal, Ricky Marcos, and Jack Kalingking.
