Here are some suggestions on what to watch on your next Netflix binge-watch.

Sorting through Netflix's back catalog can feel a bit like shopping at a superstore -- it's disorienting, increasingly frustrating, and perhaps more trouble than it's worth when all you're really after are chips and salsa.

But in time of the coronavirus, most Filipinos are wisely staying home leaving plenty of time to peek through the streaming services' myriad offerings in search of the perfect mid-pandemic entertainment.

GMA Network's here to make that quest a little easier, breaking down the major services' offerings into a few distinct recommendations based on whatever mood our global crisis might have you in.

For much-needed laughter:

Sex Education

Stars: Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, and Gillian Anderson

The series follows the story of Otis Milburn, a socially awkward teenager who is ambivalent about sex despite his mother being a sex therapist. After inadvertently assisting the school bully, Otis sets up a sex advice business with Maeve to educate their fellow students on how to deal with their own sexual problems.

BoJack Horseman

Stars: Will Arnett, Aaron Paul, and Paul F. Tompkins

The series tells the story of BoJack Horseman, a washed-up star of a 1990s sitcom who plans his return to celebrity relevance with an autobiography to be written by his ghostwriter. BoJack also has to contend with the demands of his agent, his on-again-off-again girlfriend Princess Carolyn, and his former rival Mr. Peanutbutter.

For keeping that anime spirit

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure series is divided into eight story arcs following the adventures of a new protagonist bearing the “Jojo” nickname. Each of the eight protagonists is a member of the Joestar family whose mainline descendants invariably possess a star-shaped birthmark above their left shoulder blade. The plot of each part consists of this Jojo gathering a group of allies, mastering a supernatural ability, and confronting the part's main villain.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Kusuo Saiki is a high school student who was born with all manner of psychic abilities including telepathy, psychokinesis, and teleportation. Despite using his powers, he faces all kinds of hardships and avoiding attention from everyone. He attempts to secretly use his powers to live a normal life while spending time with his friends at P.K. Academy.

For the thrills and chills

Black Mirror

Dubbed as the modern “The Twilight Zone,” Black Mirror explores and examines modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies. Each episode is a stand-alone, usually set in an alternative present or the near future, often with a dark satirical tone.

Perfume

Stars: Friederike Becht, August Diehl, and Wotan Wilke Mohring

Inspired by the novel of the same name and the 2006 film, the series starts off with a corpse of a woman whose hair has been removed. The investigators Nadja Simon and Matthias Kohler, encounter five former boarding school students who know the victim from their school days and experimented with human scents back then.

For the K-Drama addict

Hyena

Stars: Ju Ji Hoon and Kim Hye Soo

The series deals with two very competitive, private lawyers who only work for the richest 1% of society. Lawyer Jung Geum Ja (Kim Hye Soo) crosses the boundaries of law and lawlessness and tries to chase after success and money no matter what it takes. On the other hand, Yoon Hee Jae is a successful, elite lawyer who possesses a brilliant mind that is wrapped around his ego.

Her Private Life

Stars: Park MIn Young, Kim Jae Wook, and Ahn Bo Hyun

Based on the Korean novel Noona Dot Com, “Her Private Life” tells the story of Sung Deok-mi (Park Min-young) a talented chief curator who also happens to have a secret: she is a fanatic fangirl of White Ocean's Cha Shi-an. She meets Ryan Gold who becomes her new boss and happens to be a man drenched with success.
