Fifty organizations working in the humanitarian sector, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, have collaborated to release a book titled “My Hero is You, How Kids Can Fight COVID-19!”
Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings (IASC MHPSS RG) developed this project through the feedback it received from its global survey.
“A global survey was distributed in Arabic, English, Italian, French and Spanish to assess children's mental health and psychosocial needs during the COVID-19 outbreak,” the IASC explained.
“A framework of topics to be addressed through the story was developed using the survey results,” it added.
No ordinary children's book
The book primarily aims to reach children aged six to 11 years old in all parts of the world to help them cope with the global health crisis caused by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19. It has 12 language versions already published online.
