Instagram has just officially launched Reels, a new creative tool that lets users record, edit, and share 15-seconder videos.

When you open the Instagram (IG) camera, you'll now have a new “Reels” option at the bottom. And once you choose “Reels” you'll see video editing tools on the left side of the screen, which includes audio, augmented reality (AR) effects, timer and countdown, align, and speed options.

Now, you don't only get to record videos, but you can also enhance them by using songs from the IG music library, use visual effects created by IG and other creators, adjust the speed of a part of your video, add seamless transitions from one video to another, and record hands-free with a timer or prepare for recording with a countdown feature.

You can record reels all at once or in a series of clips (one part at a time), and you can also upload from your videos from your gallery.

If your account is public and you use an original audio for your reel, the audio will be attributed to you and people can also create their own reel using your original audio by selecting “use audio” from your reel.

Plus, public IG accounts can share their reels in Explore so more IG users can see them.

If your reel features a certain song, hashtag, or effect, it may appear on dedicated pages when someone clicks on that particular song, hashtag, or effect.

And if your IG account is private, you can share reels to you feed, where only your followers can see them. Moreover, no one else can use the original audio from your reel and nobody can share your reels with those who don't follow you.

Tech Crunch reports that IG Reels is now available in 50 countries including the U.S., India, Brazil, France, Germany, the U.K., Japan, Australia, Spain, Mexico, and Argentina.
