Kapuso actress and animal welfare advocate Carla Abellana informed her followers about the current situation of animal cruelty cases in the Philippines on Monday, August 10.

On Instagram, Carla also shared the update of the ongoing petition of Pawssion Project Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of dogs in distress, which aims to reach concerned authorities about the public outcry regarding the issue.

She wrote, “As of 10:50 PM, we have only gathered a little over 20k signatures. We are still far from our goal of 1M signatures.

"So so many animal cruelty cases everyday. Everyone wants action and result, but it's so hard to get everyone to sign the petition.”

She also asked the public to let their voices be heard by signing the petition.

“With how the animal welfare act is treated now, all of your cries on social media are good as nothing because again, no witness = no case.

“Every animal cruelty case you see on social media, despite the clear evidence, if without a witness willing to sign an affidavit and testify in court, then there's no case,” she added.

With the laws not properly implemented, every animal cruelty case you see on social media, despite the clear evidence, if without a witness willing to sign an affidavit and testify in court, then there's no case. The lawmakers won't really read all your comments on social media. We need this petition so they will act on our pleas.
