Study says that animals contribute to humans in so many ways. Here are five ways pets make our lives better according to Daily Paws:
1. Pets help relieve stress
Being our companion, pets can simply give us a calming effect and joy. When we have our pets with us, a powerful neurochemical called "oxytocin" is released and it is accompanied by a decrease in "cortisol," a stress hormone.
2. Pets may relieve depression
Animals give something to focus on instead of the negative thoughts. Research says that pets can provide social support for their owners who tend to have better overall well-being than non-pet owners.
3. Pets improve relationships
Adults and young adults with a deep bond to their pets felt more connected in their relationships and to their communities than who did not have pets.
4. Pets boost self-esteem
Pets will love us unconditionally. Unlike humans, animals don't have an agenda; they don't care what we look like or how we behave and that boosts our self-esteem.
5. Pets bring family closer together
Having pets is good for the whole family. They can be a natural bridge among family members for they provide a convenient and easy topic of conversation connecting one family member to another.
