Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio turned 28 years old on Tuesday, August 1.

To mark his special day, Derrick organized a birthday party at a farmhouse in Nasugbu, Batangas together with his family and friends.

On Instagram, the Sparkle heartthrob posted a compilation of videos from his intimate celebration where his fellow Makiling star Elle Villanueva was spotted.

In his caption, Derrick expressed his gratitude for the people who spent their time with him on his 28th birthday.

"I rarely celebrate and throw a party but I found the perfect spot for my birthday celebration in Nasugbu. Feeling overwhelmed for I was surrounded by the closest people that I love so much. I'm thankul for each and everyone who came and all the people who organized this for me," he wrote.

Derrick also shared his realizations in life as he turns a year older.

"I realized a LOT of things this year such as being in the moment, being grateful and simply just acknowledging your mistakes, weaknesses and transform them into strengths and tools for hollistic growth. I savor the moment in life's celebrations and I believe that you're only as young as you want to be," he added.

Derrick will star in the upcoming GMA Afternooon Prime series Makiling together with Elle Villanueva, Myrtle Sarrosa, Thea Tolentino, and Kristoffer Martin.

The story of Makiling revolves around the trials of two childhood friends who grew up at the foot of Mount Makiling.
