It's rare for a celebrity to get married at the iconic Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, popularly known as Quiapo Church, in Manila.
So to witness Angeline Quinto and her partner Nonrev Daquina exchange vows last Thursday, April 25, in the dignified church is a humbling experience especially for the devout Catholics.
Getting married in Quiapo Church was a personal choice for the couple as they are both devotees of the Black Nazarene. Not to mention, the place of worship is very close to Angeline's heart because she was born and raised in Sampaloc, a neighboring district of Quiapo in Manila.
Being a symbol of the Filipino Catholic faith, Angeline, Nonrev, and their wedding planner, La Belle Fete, incorporated local elements to highlight the Filipino culture and craftsmanship during the wedding.
Instead of renting a vintage bridal car, Angeline and Nonrev turned the spotlight on the traditional Pinoy jeepney which was used as a backdrop for their post-nup photoshoot.
Other local elements featured include taho containers and a sorbetes cart.
The ceremony was followed by a grand wedding reception at the Maynila Ballroom in the historic Manila Hotel.
True to the couple's goal, Angeline and Nonrev requested their event stylist, Dave Sandoval, to support the local sellers in Quiapo by sourcing out items from the area to be used to decorate the ballroom.
Quiapo being known for its native handicrafts, Dave and his team purchased solihiya place mats, bayong boxes as centerpiece holders, miniature golden jeepneys, and rattan balls as added decorative pieces for the table setting.
Capiz luminaries from Quiapo were also used to add a warm glow to the tables.
For the ceiling accents, salakot, hanging capiz, and fresh sampaguita flowers were hung from the ceiling.
This is not only to support the local craftsmanship but also to promote sustainability, said Dave.
The wedding of Angeline and Nonrev was attended by a star-studded lineup of guests, including Vice Ganda, Matteo Guidicelli, Sarah Geronimo, Martin Nievera, Erik Santos, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, and Dra. Vicki Belo.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, former president of ABS-CBN Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN's chief operating officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and Star Magic executive Direk Laurenti Dyogi were also spotted during the wedding.
Angeline Quinto and Nonrev welcomed their first child Sylvio in April 2022. They got engaged in September 2022.
