The theater world is shaking again as Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical hit the stage last April 26. It is a musical dedicated to the songs and Parokyaverse created by the Filipino rock band Parokya ni Edgar.
Its frontman, Chito Miranda, shared on Instagram that their band, Parokya ni Edgar, paid a visit to the first show of the musical and called it an “overwhelming experience.”
He also thanked the creatives behind the success of the show, those who watched the first night, and everybody who is planning to catch Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga [...] nilalang na bumuo ng show na 'to, at maraming maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga nanood (at manonood) ng [Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical]” he said.
In a separate post where he shared a part of the show where the cast sang “Harana,” Chito compared Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical to their hit song “Buloy.”
"'Buloy' is a song I wrote when I was 18yrs old. Tungkol ito sa kaibigan namin na dinadaan sa alak ang problema, and eventually, nagpakamatay. It's a tragic story, "wrapped" inside a fun, upbeat song, to a point na hindi mo na mapapansin how dark the song really is. Just like [Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical],” Chito wrote.
Eventually, he shared how it was such a fun ride when they watched the musical. He also applauded the show's visuals, especially its compelling and deep storyline.
“It's such a fun ride. Sobrang saya lang, at grabe yung visuals. Ang sarap at ang galing ng kantahan… [N]apakapilyo ng humor...as in tawa lang kami [nang] tawa. Akala ko nga nung una, parang kalokohan lang yung narrative eh, pero if twisted 'yung utak mo, tulad nung mga tao behind the musical (the story, the script, everything), sasabog 'yung utak mo on how dark and messed up the story is.”
In the end, Chito, yet again, recognized the team behind the musical and their great work to make it a success, “Sa buong team behind [Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical], grabe...ang galing nyo po. It took me a while...pero kinilabutan ako nung na-realize ko kung ano talaga yung kinukwento nyo.”
