Aegis singer Mercy Sunot passes away

The OPM industry is reeling from the shocking news this Monday morning (November 18) that Mercy Sunot, vocalist of the OPM rock band Aegis has passed away after her battle with cancer.
Through their official Facebook page, Mercy Sunot's band mates announced the sad news of her passing.
At this writing, the family of Mercy Sunot has not released any details about the cause of her death. But Mercy's sister and band mate Stephanie Ken has uploaded a black image with a candle in place of her profile photo on her Facebook, which in these parts can be taken as an indication that a death has happened in the family.

Just two days ago, Mercy Sunot shared in a TikTok video that she underwent a lung surgery and asked her followers to pray for her healing.
“Tapos na 'yung surgery ko sa lungs, pero biglang nahirapan akong huminga, so dinala ako sa ICU.”
She added, “Tapos ngayon may tubig pala, may inflammation 'yung lungs ko, so ginagawan na nila ng paraan.”
“Pinag-steroids, pinainom sa akin ng doctor para sa inflammation. Pag-pray niyo ako guys, please. Pag-pray niyo ako na matatapos na 'tong pagsubok na 'to,”

The band's tribute Facebook post for Mercy Sunot has received countless messages of condolence and sympathy. Others even commented how the songs of Aegis became part of their lives.
Aegis is composed of Mercy's siblings Juliet and Ken, while the other band members include Stella Pabico, Rey Abenoja , Rowena Adriano , and Vilma Goloviogo. They marked their 25th anniversary in 2023.
The rock band rose to popularity in the '90s and are behind some of the classic karaoke songs Pinoy loves to sing-along like “Halik”, “Sayang na Sayang”, and “Luha.”
