The Philippine entertainment industry is heartbroken to learn that Asia's Queen of Song, Pilita Corrales, has passed away at the age of 85.
Pilita's granddaughter, Janine Gutierrez confirmed the news on April 12. She paid tribute to her lola on Instagram saying, “Pilita touched the lives of many, not only with her songs but also with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry, but most of all for her love of life and family.
“Please join us with your prayers and kind thoughts as we celebrate her beautiful life.”
Multi-awarded comedian and Pepito Manaloto star Michael V. honored the memory and legacy of the late OPM icon by drawing a beautiful portrait of her and sharing it on his personal IG page.
Several celebrities including his good friend and Bubble Gang pioneer Ogie Alcasid, Valeen Montenegro, and Kapamilya anchor Bernadette Sembrano reacted to his heartwarming tribute for Pilita.
Pilita Corrales is survived by her daughter Jackie Lou Blanco and son Ramon “Monching” Christopher Gutierrez.
