Before becoming Pope Leo XIV, Rev. Fr. Robert Francis Prevost had made multiple trips to the Philippines as the Prior General of the Augustinian Order.
Fr. Prevost served as Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine from 2001 to 2013. During this time, he visited the Philippines on several occasions. He celebrated mass in San Agustin Church in Intramuros and at the Minor Basilica of Santo Niño de Cebu.
