For 40 women, today marks their first day as a Binibining Pilipinas candidate.

But roughly a year ago, it was the day that started it all for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. And the beauty queen couldn't help but reminisce the moment she took her first step into becoming who she is today.

On Instagram, Catriona posted a video of her journey in the said pageant.

She wrote, “One year ago today…

“This was a night that the dream to represent my country came true. 🇵🇭 Joining @bbpilipinasofficial despite my fears, proving all those people who said I couldn't wrong..”

She added, “I realised that night that those doors that closed on me in the years prior were not denying me but redirecting to something even better than I could ever have dreamed of.

“Forever a Miss Philippines… forever a Binibini.”
