In line with GMA's quest to give its viewers only the best, GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) has decided to team up with the international school of John Robert Powers. With the aim of improving the talent and personality of the Kapuso artists, GMAAC chose to give 11 young stars an opportunity of a lifetime. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos by Connie M. Tungul Last October 10, 2008, 11 GMA artists, officially enrolled and signed contracts with John Robert Powers (JRP). In line with the talent development mission of GMAAC, they presented these young stars a chance to be better artists and persons. These stars will have to attend 80 hours of personality development and 128 hours of English classes. The lucky artists starsEleven fortunate Kapuso artists were given a scholarship worth P200,000 each at the John Robert Powers finishing school. Mark Herras, Marky Cielo, Mike Tan, Rainier Castillo, Aljur Abrenica, Ryza Cenon, Iwa Moto, Kris Bernal, Rich Asuncion, Yasmien Kurdi and Sheena Halili were chosen by GMA Network executives Ms. Ida Henares and Ms. Wilma Galvante to attend the trainings and classes offered by JRP. "I am a believer in training. I am a believer in trying to find ways to better one's self, and so I am very excited for them that they are given this opportunity. I sincerely hope that they will take this seriously because alam kong hindi lang ito pang sa ngayon sa career nila pero panghabang buhay," said the head of GMAAC, Ms. Ida Henares. The GMAAC intends to exceed expectations and maximize the resources, knowledge, and information available to ensure that the GMAAC remains committed to being the most bankable talent management and development institution in the local entertainment industry. "I wish that they would really take this seriously and I am so excited for them. It is a win-win situation. Money isn't the important thing, everybody is going to benefit, that is why we decided to do it," said the very amiable president of JRP International. Ms. Ida Henares in turn said that this course is only one of the other programs that GMAAC has in stored for its ward to maintain their winning edge over the other artists today. "Actually we have a lot of programs. We have our workshops, our talent development workshops, 'yung ating film and TV workshops that is ongoing tapos 'yung ating dance and singing workshops but very soon we are also tying up with Ballet Philippines who is in charge of the place called Arts and the City," concludes the head of GMAAC.
