The popular Garments Capital of the Philippines, Taytay, Rizal, has shifted from producing ready-to-wear clothes to cloth masks to respond to the needs of COVID-19 frontliners as well as provide a source of income to small businesses during this crisis.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, businesses have been disrupted. This remains a threat across the entire Luzon that is under enhanced community quarantine as well as in most parts of the rest of the country. But the ILOVETATAY Garments Producers Association Inc. (IGPAI) has turned this situation to an opportunity to help as well as provide income to their sewers.
Taytay has been known for producing fashionable yet affordable ready-to-wear items. It has attracted retailers and wholesalers from even far places because of their quality garments and this, in turn, provided sustainable living to its residents.
Recently, IGPAI, under the initiative of Evans Garcia, started the Taytay Tiangge Gives Back, a project operating on the values of support, sustainability, security, and stability as a response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The Taytay Tiangge Gives Back aims to shift the production from garments to cloth masks, and eventually personal protective equipment (PPE), for medical and non-health frontliners. It also intends to help Taytay seamstresses and dressmakers have an alternative source of income as well as bridge the supply and demand of the said products by connecting them to a network of prospective clients.
Bulk and retail orders may be done by visiting their Facebook page and by sending details to 0916-761-3128. Payment and delivery options are also posted on its official social media account.
The Taytay Tiangge Gives Back project is among the citizen-led initiatives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
