Frankie Pangilinan teases her fans and music enthusiasts about another music project she is working on with no less than OPM icon Ely Buendia.
Frankie has previously collaborated with the Eraserheads singer-songwriter for her debut single titled “TYL.” She released the track in July 2019.
Despite the song enjoying mainstream airtime, only a few knows that the eldest daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, is paving her own path in music scene.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Frankie introduced her music as well as her influences and inspiration.
She said, “There were some phases nga where it's like jazz and rock were really like important to me. That was really big for my development. But obviously of course naman, I also appreciate pop. We don't want to discount that, 'di ba. So I think for me right now, I'm in a stage of kind of like experimentation, just trying to find which sounds work for me, which producers. Parang I'm not trying to conform to any one thing because I want to see and try multiple, different things, different avenues, different producers, ganun. So that I can hopefully come up with something good.”
She also added, “It's primarily fueled din by my passion kasi for writing. Writing is my number one passion; writing music, writing stories, writing poems and things like that. And it's like throughout all of my music, I think I want to do the same thing. I want to tell a story.”
Now that her university life is temporarily interrupted due to the COVID-19 crisis, Frankie has been focusing on her music. Her time under quarantine has actually helped her pen over 30 songs, and included in her fresh compositions is another collaboration she's working on with Ely.
Frankie teased about it, saying, “I don't think it's what people would expect from me like ever. I'm not sure if people would expect that, but yeah. I'm just excited. There's no details pa. He just sent me a demo a couple of days ago. It's kinda like we're just working through it now.”
