Winnie Monsod

What will Winnie Monsod think of handheld facial groomers, electronic lighters, and other items popular in online shopping?

Technological advancements have made it easier and safer for us to shop online.

Aside from this, the COVID-19 pandemic has also given rise to more people turning to online shopping, instead of going out to shops.

In an episode of The New Normal: Newsmakers, Professor Winnie Monsod sat down and took a look at a few items popular in online shopping now.

"I don't mind. I actually used [online shopping] once or twice to buy stuff. Pero natatakot ako sa credit card kasi baka magamit 'yung credit card," she shares.

However, Tita Winnie recognized that online shopping is a safe alternative during the time of the pandemic.

"But that is because I am old and I'm set in my ways. But it think that especially now with COVID, when you really don't want to go to stores to buy stuff, going shopping online is a good idea," she says.

She reviewed prices of items like a fidget cube, a facial hair trimmer, a makeup brush cleaning mat, and a rechargeable electronic lighter plus their shipping fees.

"Rechargeable electronic lighter? Sino ba ang gumagamit ng electronic lighter? Alam niyo, when I'm outdoors and there's wind, all I do is use my hand to protect it from the wind," she muses.

She was also surprised by the price of the item.

"Alam niyo kung magkano itong rechargeable electronic lighter, mga Kapuso? P900 plus P250 shipping up to Metro Manila. Nako, magkano ba 'yung packs of matches natin?" she says, adding that she will not be adding it to her cart.

When asked to choose an emoji she would use to describe the product, she had a very strong reaction.

"P900? You'll spend P900 on this? Maybe angry pa," she stresses.

Which of these items will she add to her cart?
