Trese, the graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldissimo, is Netflix-bound.
This was revealed after the popular streaming website released a teaser on its Facebook page with pictures taken from the upcoming anime series.
“Aswangs of Manila, beware: Alexandra Trese is coming for you. Enjoy this very first look at TRESE, coming soon on Netflix,” the post said.
The brief announcement included a snippet apparently taken from the series.
It shows lead character Alexandra Trese looking over the city skyline from a glass window on a rainy evening.
The other image, meanwhile, has the Filipino paranormal crime fighter holding a bloody knife.
Released in 2005, Trese is a dark fantasy comic book that incorporates Filipino folklore and mythology in its horror-crime narrative.
Directing the anime series is Filipino-American storyboard artists and producer-director, Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Wonder Woman).
The series will premiere on Netflix in 2021 although no particular date has been mentioned thus far.
