Arvin “Tado” Jimenez died in a bus accident in the Mountain Province in 2014.

Host and TV personality Angel Rivero paid tribute to the memory of the late comedian Arvin “Tado” Jimenez seven years after his untimely demise.

Angel and Tado worked together in the reality comedy show Strangebrew.

The program, which lasted from 2001 to 2003, enjoyed a cult following among the young viewers for its offbeat humor.

Strangebrew helped launch the careers of Angel and Tado, as well as comedian-host Ramon Bautista, who portrayed various odd characters in the show.

“Dumaan na ang Pebrero, pero huwag natin ito palampasin without sharing a moment to remember a dear friend na rumakenrol papunta sa kabilang dako, waaay too soon,” Angel said on Facebook today, March 2.

Her caption was accompanied by a sketch of them together in Strangebrew characters and standing on a buko pie.

“I can't believe it's been 7 years this Feb! Andami pa sana nating pag-uusapan na topics dito sa Pilipinas. Mga usapang pampa-libang, sakto sana sa panahon ng Pandemic.

“We miss you here, master Tado! Lagi pa rin ako maghahanda ng auto.”

The last sentence alluded to Angel's role in the show as Tado's friend and driver.

Last road trip

Tado passed away on February 7, 2014, after the passenger bus in which he was riding fell off into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province. The accident killed 14 people.

The comedian, who was 39 at the time of his death, was reportedly traveling for an outreach program in Kalinga province.

He was also said to be doing a book project based on his travels.

“Long trip, as in trip trip,” Tado wrote on Instagram as he was about to leave Manila to take that fateful journey.

Tado, ironically, was a road safety advocate.

An activist during his student days at Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Tado, together with writer Lourd de Veyra, musicians Noel Cabangon and Buwi Meneses, and actor Ronnie Lazaro, founded the group Dakila in 2005.

Dakila was established to give artists and people in the creative field a platform to get involved with social issues and advocacies.

His apparel brand, Limitado, was among the pioneers of creating statement shirts laced with humor and social musings.

The business is now being managed by Tado's wife, Leah Jimenez.
