Vico Sotto

Despite testing negative for COVID-19, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto opts to finish his 14-day quarantine.

Despite testing negative for the coronavirus disease, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto opted to undergo a two-week quarantine after his driver tested positive and subsequently died from the virus.

About 14-days later, the incumbent leader of Pasig City shared a smiling selfie of himself to mark his last night of self-isolation.

On his social media sites, Vico is seen giving his followers a thumbs up and shares a few updates about his health.

“My last night of quarantine,” he said.

“Nag-negative ako sa PCR test nung ika-apat na araw mula exposure, kaya safe 'yung nakasalamuha ko pa nung March 12;

In the same post, he noted that his office in Pasig City Hall would not be having any face-to-face meetings until April 5 (Easter Monday) to follow the IATF Resolution 104.

#FollowHealthProtocols #BeatCOVIDTogether.”

On March 15, it was reported that Vico Sotto's driver had tested positive from COVID-19 and later died from the disease.

And although he last saw his driver on March 10, Wednesday, before the latter was brought to the hospital, the Pasig City Mayor opted to take the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, which later bore the result of negative.

He said on Twitter, “NEGATIVE ang result ng pcr test ko. Negative din 'yung nakasama namin sa sasakyan.

“Thank you for your messages and prayers. Let's all do our part to prevent the spread of this virus and its variants.”

The same day he received his results, Vico announced on Facebook that he'd be undergoing quarantine and will be canceling all his face-to-face meetings and appointments.

He wrote, “Following DOH protocol, I will be in QUARANTINE until MARCH 24 (2 weeks from when he last drove for me). I will continue working via Zoom and phone.

“Isang mabuting asawa, ama, at kaibigan. Mahal na mahal siya ng mga tao. Mami-miss ka namin Kuya Vener. Mahal ka namin.”
