For the third consecutive time, Kapuso John Vic de Guzman will serve as team captain of the Philippine men's national volleyball team.

After leading the Philippine men's national volleyball team to a bridesmaid finish at the 2019 Manila Southeast Asian Games, Kapuso John Vic de Guzman will remain as the captain of the national team.

John Vic promised to once again do his best to lead the country in upcoming 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam.

"I only have but gratitude to the coaches for this another chance to be the national team captain," he said.

"Makakaasa po kayo na gagawin ko po ang aking makakaya para mapanatiling buo at nagkakaisa ang aming grupo para sa bayan."

John Vic also cleared that being the team captain is not a recognition that he is neither the best scorer nor the most skilled player in the team.

He added, "Being a team captain doesn't mean you're the best scorer or the most skilled player.

"Being a team captain is a responsibility to lead the team even outside the playing court at doon po ako nagpapasalamat for allowing me to contribute more."

John Vic has been a mainstay of the Philippine men's national volleyball team, serving as its team captain since the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia.

However, the 2021 Hanoi SEA Games is postponed until 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
