The Philippine Red Cross chairman and CEO is grateful to be fully vaccinated.

Former senator and Philippine Red Cross chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Richard Gordon revealed on Wednesday, July 28, that he tested positive for COVID-19.

He tweeted, “I received word this morning from our molecular laboratory at the @philredcross that my RT-PCR test result has come back POSITIVE.

“I am feeling slightly under the weather but am exhibiting no other symptoms as of now and my doctor has advised me to rest and isolate at home.”

Gordon said he announced his test result in order to speed up the contact tracing process and to alert everyone who may have had contact with him to isolate themselves and get tested.

He also emphasized that he is fully vaccinated and grateful for the protection it affords him.

Gordon underlined, “While infections in vaccinated people are relatively uncommon, they can and do happen.

“What the vaccines offer, as has been documented in countries with high rates of vaccination, is protection against serious illness, hospitalization, and death.”

On the same day, Gordon also shared a photo of him inside an ambulance and said he was on the way to the hospital.

He captioned it: “Ako ay papunta na ng Makati Medical Center upang sumailalim sa laboratory tests. Maraming salamat sa inyong dasal!”

As of today, July 29, at 2:45 p.m. the latest update on Gordon is that he was admitted last night to the Makati Medical Center for observation and further testing.

His high resolution chest CT-scan findings reportedly revealed that Gordon has pneumonia.

Gordon is now being treated accordingly and will remain in the hospital until further notice.
