After testing positive for COVID-19, Hidilyn Diaz tells everyone to stay safe and follow health protocols.

Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz revealed that she has tested positive for COVID-19 through a social media post yesterday, January 12.

The Zamboanga native shared a screenshot of her positive test result on Instagram and urged everyone to remain cautious and follow health protocols.

“Kahit ako po, nag-positive na po. Ingat po tayong lahat. Magpalakas at sundin lahat ng health protocols,” she wrote in her post.

A week before contracting the contagious virus, the professional weightlifter encouraged the public to get vaccinated and boosted through a short video of herself getting the vaccine.

She captioned her post, “GET VACCINATED. GET BOOSTED. Let's all stay safe! Thank you QC LGU para sa maayos na vaccination!”

Apart from Hidilyn, other celebrities and known personalities such as Mars Pa More host Iya Villania, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, GMA News pillar Arnold Clavio, actress Candy Pangilinan, and volleyball star Alyssa Valdez have also tested positive for COVID-19 during the January 2022 surge.

As of January 12, 2022, the Department of Health announced that there are 32, 246 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.
