For Jackie rice, the experience, exposure to different cultures and the step back is worth the expense.

“Ang gastos, pero worth it.”

This is how Jackie Rice described her ultimate past time and stress reliever, an activity she ironically works for and resorts to when she’s tired from work—travelling.

The wanderlust in this 23-year-old actress is strong because she admits to being in love with immersing in an entirely different culture and being distant from her comfort zone.

“Worth it kasi hindi mo mababayaran ‘yung experience mo abroad, ‘yung culture nila, kung ano (ang) matututunan mo doon,” she shared.

So far, her favorite trip was Japan after the country won her over with the simplest things. Her visit to the Land of the Rising Sun in May 2013 was an experience she will always treasure.

“Iba eh. Ang saya kasi malamig tapos ang linis ng lugar nila… High-end ‘yung mga gadget nila. Banyo nila, napakalinis. Parang kaya kong matulog sa banyo. Ang linis-linis talaga,” she described.

Being able to experience this allows her to appreciate progress, and hope for the same for the Philippines. “Well, mas maganda pa rin ‘yung Pilipinas, (pero) sana ganun din (kalinis) dito,” she added.

Jackie has also been to other countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the U.S., and she intends to add to the list.  She makes the most of her time away from work with her favorite travel buddies -- her family and her non-showbiz boyfriend.

Catch Jackie as Gina in Innamorata, premiering in GMA Afternoon Prime on February 18.
