Who would have thought that a beauty queen like Pauline Amelinckx has an insecurity?
The 2023 Miss Universe Philippines candidate opened up about the bullying she experienced before that affected her mental health.
On her Instagram, Pauline talked about getting body-shamed online, which had a major impact in her life.
She recalled, “Getting through body shaming was tough. In many ways it did affect my mental health and my self/body image. I tried to avoid the comment section every time I would post (which is more tricky than you think) or even not want to post.”
Pauline continued, “But that would mean I'm giving in and letting external voices set my capacities and my worth. But I recently read this: Avoidance feeds anxiety.
“So instead of avoiding the comment section, I now actively try to accept the fact that everyone will have their opinion (which they are entitled to!) but to also let my mindset and self-worth be stronger than others' opinions…Self-worth, self-acceptance and self-love will always be a continuous process.”
The reigning Miss Universe Philippines-Charity added, “But that commitment to yourself, that self-love, will allow you to evolve and transform into a stronger individual…let the voice in your head be the kindest.”
Several personalities offered Pauline some words of encouragement after reading her IG post including fellow Miss Universe Philippines candidate Mary Angelique Manto and TikTok star Ayn Bernos.
