Glaiza de Castro and David Rainey

Take the period of quarantine as an opportunity to bond with your loved ones. Find out Glaiza de Castro's recommended activities for couples here!

It's been over two months since the start of the enhanced community quarantine. People definitely miss going out and doing their old routines. But if you're lucky enough to be stranded at home with your loved one, why not take this opportunity to bond with them?

Take cues from Glaiza de Castro who's been turning this period of quarantine to get closer to her non-showbiz beau David Rainey through fun and productive ways!

1. Workout together.

Working out sounds like old news but Glaiza has creative ways to keep you interested and invested in doing fitness programs at home.

She says, “We try to keep it as exciting as possible. Minsan naman meron syiang paandar na workout… Alam ko nag-release din GMA News nito eh, 'yung i-spell mo 'yung pangalan mo tapos 'yung isang letter is equivalent to certain exercises. Kunwari ang G ay equivalent to 50 jumping jacks.

“Meron kaming iba't ibang workouts to keep us excited or para ma-look forward namin 'yung aming workout.”

2. Do household chores together.

Glaiza has been very vocal about learning to do more household chores now that she's stuck indoors. What she likes about it most is how she notices that cleaning, arranging things, and doing manual labor around the house have all helped synchronized her energy with her boyfriend. It's therapeutic for them, too!

The actress explains, “Parang it makes your relationship, I don't know, stronger I think dahil sa mga ganung bagay nasusubukan niyo 'yung isa't isa kung ano 'yung haba ng pasensya niyo. Kung meron kayong disagreement, minsan daanin niyo sa paglilinis. Ewan ko pero pagkatapos noon nakakagaan ng loob.”

3. Cook together.

Glaiza suggests trying an activity that your partner is more skilled at. For her and David, that's cooking! It seems to confirm the old saying too that the way to win a man's heart is through his stomach.

She reveals, “Si David mahilig siya magluto. So isa rin 'yan sa mga paraan para mas ma-familiarize ako sa pagluluto.”

4. Find the closest alternative to your common interest.

The quarantine puts a lot of restrictions on our activities, and that's why Glaiza recommends finding the closest alternative to you and your partner's common interest.

Glaiza also acknowledges that she and her boyfriend are fortunate to be spending time together in Baler. While they cannot hit the beach yet for safety measures, they satisfy themselves with a dip in their own pool.

“Hindi kami makapag-beach, at dahil mahilig kami mag-beach pareho... ang isa sa ways to relax namin ay to swim,” she share.

5. Read stories to each other.

Glaiza and David don't let the restrictions limit their creativity and imagination. They actually fuel them by reading stories to each other.

Glaiza explains, “Nagbabasa kami, parang salit-salitan kami ng chapters or nagdudugtungan kami ng stories. So 'yung, napa-practice namin pag-i-improvise namin, 'yung pagiging creative namin.”
