During their conversation, Mikael opened up about how he dealt with his dad's passing when he was 16 years old and how this crucial moment in his life taught him about loss, grief, and letting go.

Happy father's day! I guess the apple never really falls too far from the tree 🤣 I stumbled across these old photos of my dad and realized i had similar ones(kahit yung brand pareho haha). I was not born yet when my dad modelled and my dad had already passed away by the time i was working. Yet, the universe still managed to connect us. ❤️🙏

"I guess my first real bout of having to let go was when my dad passed. This moment in my life definitely shaped who I am now.

"During that time, I was 16 years old, the first few years were definitely super duper difficult and I think I'm gonna talk about those few years moving forward because that's when my sense of nostalgia is super duper strong because at that time I had lost someone so important in my life.

"It was after those first few years, later on when I was in my twenties, I actually was able to use that moment that the passing of my dad, to help myself grow. You (Megan Young) actually caught the twenties part, so you never caught the 16 to 20 years old.

"The grieving process when I felt a lot of intense emotions that I could not process and understand, I think that was the very first time that I had to let go of someone. My dad was kind of like taken away but of course, trying to accept the fact I think that was the challenge," he recalled.

Mikael then had his breakthrough moment during one conversation with his uncle which allowed him to let go and accept his dad's passing.

"For quite a while, when I was 16, 17, I was always thinking, 'Why?' So why did this happen? I guess that was stopping me from letting go because I was trying to understand it.

"To be honest with you if I were to sum up this one line that a Tito told me, I mean of course this is not verbatim, I'm really summarizing it, he said 'Why not?'

"The way that hit me was that you know, he's in a better place so why would I deny my dad that? That was the one that helped me start to move on. And that is something I carried with me in life apparently," he said.
