The news surprised almost everyone because the actress remained low-key about her love life after separating from her non-showbiz partner Charles Togezaki, to whom she bore a daughter named Keira.
On Monday, August 31, Melissa shared her love story with her followers proving that there are second chances when it comes to finding love.
On Instagram, she said that it all started when her dear friend, Direk Paolo Tesico, told her that her best days are still to come.
“Somehow this made me cry, I held on to that,” said Melissa.
“That was 2 years ago when I felt like everything was falling apart.
"I felt hopeless, I didn't have as much money as I did, I was a single mom, I was alone, I didn't have work and I was scared.
“That was when I turned to God. I knew that hindi niya ako papabayaan”
Being close to God then led her to frequent Jesus the Anointed One Church in Rosario, Batangas, a two-hour drive away from where she lived.
“Somehow it felt like I was home, it felt right, I felt safe, I didn't feel judged, I felt like my worries were taken away, and I felt like I had a family there.”
In one of her visits, Melissa mused to God, “Lord, baka naman po may ma-meet ako dito.”
Her only requirements: “'Yung masipag, 'yung mabait, mahal ako at anak ko, but most of all may takot sa Diyos. Sana po may makatabi ako.”
A few months later, God heeded her call and gave her Michael.
