Oscar Oida on his and MJ Marfori's relationship: “Never kami nagka-monthsary o anniversary as bf-gf ang akala namin noong una hindi kami magtatagal, 'yun pala mas 'di namin kaya ng wala ang isa't isa.”

On Record host Oscar Oida and his wife TV host MJ Marfori are undeniably #CoupleGoals, as their love story proves that love indeed knows no boundaries, even network wars.

GMA Lifestyle got the chance to know more about the celebrity couple's story from Oscar himself. Read on to find out how their love blossomed off-cam despite coming from different TV networks and how has their lives changed since starting a family.

Love at first sight

Kapuso reporter-anchor Oscar Oida, who's also now a host of TV show On Record, recounted how his beautiful love story with MJ Marfori unfolded.

In a statement given to GMANetwork.com, Oscar said, “Na-meet ko siya sa isang coverage noon sa Camp Aguinaldo. During that time hindi pa siya showbiz reporter kundi defense reporter ng TV-5.

“Unang kita ko palang sa kanya kumalabog na dibdib ko napatingin sa langit at nasabing 'Thank you Lord, siya na nga ang pinaka-hinihintay hintay ko sa buhay kong ito.'”

He said he had apprehensions in the beginning about whether their relationship will work out because of their 13-year age gap, but fortunately the stars aligned for MJ and him.

“Noong umpisa pa-date-date lang kami, medyo in denial pa, kasi nga ang layo ng agwat ng age namin.

“Never kami nagka-monthsary o anniversary as bf-gf ang akala namin noong una hindi kami magtatagal, 'yun pala mas 'di namin kaya ng wala ang isa't isa. Ayeeeee!”

Oscar also said that he and MJ are compatible in many ways and he explained how he knew MJ was the one for him.

“Bukod sa napakaganda niya magaling pa siya sa direksyon, binigyan niya ng direksyon ang buhay ko. Hehehe! Seriously, 'di ko alam kung nasaan ako ngayon kung wala si MJ.

“Bukod sa pareho kaming masayahin at mahilig kumain. Hehehe! Pareho rin kaming adventurous ang dami na naming travels na lalong nagbigay daan para makilala namin ang isa't isa at lalong mapatatag ang aming pagsasama.

“Alam n'yo, malalaman n'yo nalang talaga na siya na e 'pag naramdman mo 'yun.

“Hirap i-explain pero ang dami ko na rin naman na kasing pinagdaanang relasyon kaya noong mag-propose ako kay MJ siguradong-sigurado na ako at 'di naman talaga ako nagkamali. Fifth wedding anniversary na namin noong January 30.”

Raising a family amid the pandemic

The On Record host also shared how being first-time parents changed their relationship and routines.

“Siyempre medyo extra challenge 'yan sa sitwasyon namin ngayon lalo't nandiyan na si Baby Aerin, pero siyempre dapat laging humanap ng paraan kahit sa simpleng paraan to keep the fire of the relationship burning.

“We always manage to come up with ways to show each other how much we value and love each other.

“Actually, kung may blessing man na maituturing ngayong pandemya, 'yun ay nagkaroon kami ng more time para sa pamilya.

“Mas natutukan namin si Aerin and grabe sobrang sarap ng feeling just to be with them.”

What he loves most about MJ

Although Oscar could make an endless list of things that he loves about his wife MJ, he emphasized how much he appreciates MJ as the mother of their daughter Aerin.

“Alam n'yo, there will never be enough ways to thank my wife MJ for bringing me such a happy and beautiful family.

“Grabe, ako ang buhay na saksi sa bawat sakripisyo at paghihirap niya mailabas lang si Aerin.

“Na- witness ko mula pagbubuntis niya hanggang sa panganganak at 'di ko mapapantayan 'yon. I'm just happy and grateful for the opportunity to be by her side every step of the way.”

Also, during the press con for On Record, Oscar says he helps his wife in any way he can as a way of thanking her for all of her sacrifices.

“Kaya dito sa bahay si MJ ang boss at ako ang kanyang bodyguard, driver, taga-pamalengke and all.

“Kung ano 'yung bagay na magagawa ko para mapagaan 'yung buhay niya, I will do.”
