There are many good reasons why people keep coming back to the picturesque island of Coron in Palawan.

It is a perfect destination for adrenaline seekers and for those who simply want to take a retreat from their busy city life.

Comprising the eastern half of Busuanga Island, Coron Island, and over 50 other islets, Coron boasts a lot of breathtaking sceneries such as towering limestone formation, pristine beaches, and crystal clear waters.

Last Holy Week, Love You Two actor Jerald Napoles took a vacation in the island and went to the most visited and little-known places there. So, in case you're planning to go to Coron this summer, you might want to check them out.

Barracuda Lake

It is a one in a very few chances to be able to have Coron's "Barracuda Lake" just for you specially during holyweek. And it only lasts for a short while.. SALAMAT BATHALA! Shout out to @ericpoliquit of Timothy Travel and Tour agency! They got the hacks!! 💯👌 #coron #freedivecoron #freedive #freediver #summer #palawan #philippines

Jerald had a chance to explore Barracuda Lake, one of the two lakes in Coron that have been open to public. The other one is the tourist-favorite Kayangan Lake.

Aside from its tranquil views, Barracuda Lake is known for its most unique dives sites not only in Coron but in the world because of its layers of fresh and salt water that vary in temperature. As you go deeper underwater, be prepared to encounter different thermoclines between 28° Celsius and 38° Celsius.

Siete Pecados Marine Park is an underwater haven for different coral reefs and diverse marine species. "Siete" or seven in Spanish signifies the seven limestone formations surrounding the snorkeling spot.

Put on your snorkel mask and immerse in its turquoise waters to witness the exceptional colors of Coron's marine biodiversity.

Twin Lagoon

They say, in order to complete your Coron experience, you must visit the famous, Twin Lagoon, as it is normally a part of the Coron island hopping tour.

More than its brackish waters that is similar to Barracuda Lake, going to the second lagoon from the first lagoon is tricky yet daring in itself.

From the entrance of the first lagoon, tourists in groups usually create a human train lying down to enter the second lagoon by passing through a small crevice underneath the limestone (be mindful of the sharp edges!) if it is low tide. On the other hand, if it is high tide, others can simply go on a ladder over the rock then cliff dive.

Malcapuya Island

Island boy. 👌🏾 🏝️ 🌞 #Coron #Palawan #Philippines #summer #dive #beach

Aside from its jungle-fringed karst, Coron is also famous for its unspoiled beaches.

Malcapuya Island is a must-visit destination in Coron if you aim for serenity and isolation.

The two-hour boat ride from Coron town proper is definitely worth it because of the unparalleled colors of the sea that give picturesque views of the island. Not to mention, it has white and powdery sand that can compete with the world-renowned sand of Boracay.

A day full of adventure deserves some pampering.

Spoil yourself once in a while, spend your hard-earned money, and treat yourself to comfortable accommodations.

Jerald stayed in a contemporary boutique hotel, The Funny Lion, which looks out onto a tranquil cove with virgin mangroves and kayak trails. It also features modern amenities with a distinct rustic-chic design that every traveler needs after a busy day of roaming.

On top of that, The Funny Lion is recommended for travelers since it is only a 30-minute drive from the Francisco B. Reyes Airport in Busuanga.

Skeleton Wreck

As a free diver, Jerald didn't miss the chance to witness the 25 meter-long shipwreck, Skeleton Wreck, submerged at 5 to 22 meters deep. It is believed to be a Japanese supply ship that was sunken during the WWII.

Its skeletal appearance, from which its name was derived, makes for kick-ass underwater photo opportunities just like Jerald's photo above.
