'Unang Hirit' recently got the help of organizing expert Cheryl Serafico to break down the best way to pack a suitcase for your next getaway.

Packing a suitcase is all about one's preference. Would you rather fit more clothes or make sure they don't come out wrinkled? Do you prefer to have it looking organized or you don't mind having it look a little bit chaotic?

Everyone has an opinion -- rolled, folded, or bundled -- it's vital to learn how to pack your suitcase the smart way.

1. Make a packing list

Before any trip, start by making a packing list so you have time to pick up any last-minute items. Write down everything -- your clothes, toiletries, miscellaneous items, and what to pack in your carry-on.

2. Know the order of packing

Once you know everything you need, start by packing your heaviest items first and the lightest last. You want to put jackets and bulky items towards the bottom of the suitcase so it won't be top-heavy and it will distribute the weight more evenly when standing.

3. Stuff your shoes

Don't let any space go to waste! When packing shoes, try filling them with socks or other small items. If they're dirty, pack the shoes in a plastic bag to protect the rest of your bag.

4. Fold or roll?

Some travelers swear by rolling clothes while others prefer to fold. The best way to do it is to mix the two. Fold items if they're wrinkle-prone and tightly rolled clothes are easier to place in the little nooks and crannies around your bag.

You can also keep things organized by placing your items in packing cubes or sleeves. If your suitcase has pickets, you can also place other needed items for emergencies.

5. Never over-stuff

If the zippers are straining before you even leave home, one of them might break along the way. So never over-stuff your suitcase and make sure to leave the necessary space for your shopping!
