Janine Gutierrez in El Nido Palawan

Janine Gutierrez went to El Nido, Palawan with boyfriend Rayver Cruz and siblings Jessica, Diego, and Maxine to celebrate her 31st birthday. Learn about her experience traveling in the 'new normal' HERE:

Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez discussed her experience traveling in the new normal after celebrating her 31st birthday in the beautiful islands of El Nido, Palawan.

On her birthday last October 2, Janine and her boyfriend Rayver Cruz went to El Nido with her siblings, Jessica, Diego, and Maxine Gutierrez.

“We traveled in what they call a 'travel bubble,'” she explained in her latest vlog.

“So everybody got tested, and we all traveled on the same dates going, and the same dates back.

“Tapos hindi full capacity 'yung resort so there was no crowd, konti lang 'yung tao, tapos sa rooms, maximum of two people.”

Before going to the airport, they underwent a COVID-19 RT-PCR test to make sure they were negative.

“They had a lot of health protocol that's different from pre-pandemic,” she added.

“And then, of course, there's also a health declaration checklist that you have to answer prior to boarding the plane.

“You need to wear a face mask and a face shield on the plane, and upon getting to the airport, they also provided us with a new face mask, face shield, and a small bottle of alcohol for the flight.

“And once you get to the island, you go through a disinfection tent wherein they disinfect you, they get your temperature, they check your health declaration checklist, and then we are transferred to the resort.”

In Palawan, Janine shared some observations she had in the "new normal."

She explained, “Some differences that were notable were, of course, if you were going to use the gym, you need to reserve.

“You also need to reserve a slot for the swimming pool [because] there's only a maximum number of people that can swim in the pool at a certain time, and then they disinfect the pool after that slot.

“And then all [the] food is packed in bento boxes. It arrives in your table covered.

“So we would either schedule a late lunch or an early lunch. So there are two slots for every meal, late breakfast, early breakfast, late dinner, early dinner kasi mayroon ding maximum capacity lang 'yung clubhouse, which is where people eat.”

Room service was temporarily not available as a safety precaution. If you need additional towels and slippers, the hotel will leave them outside your door.

“Tapos sa rooms, there's no turndown service, so they're not gonna clean your room, nobody enters your room except you,” Janine continued.

“You can only request for extra towels or bedroom slippers if you want, and they deliver it outside your room.”

The resort also managed to remove the physical menus and instead gave QR codes for the guests to scan and view on their smartphones.
