space hotel

After landing on Mars, space travel for leisure is up next in human's space exploration. Find out when the world's first space hotel is opening its doors and how you can book a stay there.

Fancy a staycation in space? Who doesn't, right? At one point in our lives, we have all wondered what it would be like to actually be in space, just like astronauts. Decades ago, it seemed like a faraway dream, today we are inching towards the reality of space travel for leisure.

Orbital Assembly has just announced the target opening date for the world's first space hotel called Voyager Station.

If everything goes according to plan, Voyager Station is set to open in 2027.

Unlike its counterpart on earth, it will take on the shape of a Ferris wheel and will use centrifugal force to create artificial gravity.

Hence, the space hotel will be spinning to simulate gravity in its pods.

Voyager Station can accommodate up to 280 guests in their luxurious lodgings, which include villas that people can purchase as their vacation homes.

The space hotel will also have a gourmet restaurant, bar, gym, and entertainment center.

So, the hotel is basically like most high-end resorts on earth in terms of its amenities.

The big differences lie in its location, structure, and the experience of moving through artificial gravity and the breathtaking view of space.

Plans of the said space hotel was first made known in 2019. At that time, it was named Von Braun Rotating Space Station, after an aerospace engineer who was part of the team responsible for the development of rockets.

However, because of Von Braun's history of working under the Nazi regime in Germany before joining NASA, the space hotel had to be renamed.

Although the opening of the Voyager Station is more than five years from now, they're already taking reservations.

If you're interested to book a staycation in the world's first space hotel, you can do so through their official website,

But you must be ready to shell out a whopping $5 million (or around P242,498,850) for a three-and-a-half-day stay.

Aside from the Voyager Station, two other properties are being developed in space, Axiom Space's AxStation and Orion Span's Aurora Station.

If you can't afford the hefty price tag of a space staycation, you can also try your luck to secure a seat in private missions to space like Inspiration4 and DearMoon. They are offering lucky individuals an all-expense paid trip circling the Earth and the moon aboard a SpaceX vehicle.
