2020 Recap: K-pop news that made headlines this year

This year, the K-pop music industry showed no signs of stopping, both in quantity and quality, as a slew of artists produced their best work to date despite the pandemic.
K-pop also expanded into all sorts of mediums to reach their wide audiences -- from novels to documentaries -- but music remained the center of this industry as more and more groups release their albums and singles.
Some even celebrated a monumental mark in their careers, including BTS with their first Grammy nomination and Super Junior reaching their 15th year in the industry.
The year 2020 also did not stop a few K-pop groups from making their debut year as they mark a new generation of idols. This includes SM Entertainment's aespa, YG Entertainment's TREASURE, and Big Hit Entertainment's ENHYPEN.
Meanwhile, this year also marked the time for a few K-pop idols to experiment with their sound and add the title of soloist to their list of achievements.
Some even collaborated with the music industry's biggest stars, like BLACKPINK, who had a back-to-back collaboration with Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez.
While we could go on and on about the many things that happened, we list down the biggest news that defined K-pop's year in 2020 in this gallery.
