Andrea Del Rosario posts photo with Bato Dela Rosa

Actress Andrea del Rosario addressed social media speculation linking her and husband Anthony Garcia to Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa after she reposted an old photo with the lawmaker amid ongoing discussions surrounding his whereabouts.

The issue stemmed from a photo Andrea shared on social media on Saturday, May 16, showing her and Anthony with the senator. In the caption, she wrote, “Thank you for dropping by sir!”

The post quickly drew attention online, with some netizens joking that the couple should be considered “persons of interest” following reports that authorities were still searching for Bato after he reportedly left the Senate in the early hours of Thursday, May 14, 2026, shortly after a shooting incident that led to chaos and a lockdown in the area.

There were also reports claiming the senator had allegedly been spotted in Batangas.

Speaking to PEP.ph on Monday, May 18, Andrea said she found the reactions amusing and clarified that the photo was taken years ago.

“A photo can mean one of a million things! There's no right up there, no political opinion on the post! You can make it whatever you want!” Andrea said.

“We all have freedom of speech and freedom to post! It's just a photo taken 3 years ago!”

Andrea also admitted that reposting the photo was simply done “for fun” and to join the online meme trend surrounding the issue.

“That's an old photo… Maybe 3 years ago!” she explained.

“I posted this for fun, just riding the issue for the memes. And it worked!”

“I am not sharing an opinion, I am not soliciting an option! I am not taking any side.”

The controversy comes amid reports that Senator Bato dela Rosa is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), with the Department of Justice also issuing an immigration lookout bulletin order against the senator.

Andrea del Rosario appeared on the January 12 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where she made it clear that she has no intention of returning to politics.

Asked by host Boy Abunda if she plans to stage a political comeback, Andrea answered directly, “No.” She added that while the reasons have been widely discussed online, she preferred not to go into detail, saying she believes public service is not her calling.

Andrea previously served as vice mayor of Calatagan, Batangas from 2016 to 2019.
