Ang Bandang Shirley

On Wednesday, February 19, Filipino pop-rock band Ang Bandang Shirley announced they had disbanded via its official Facebook account.

“[...] we have decided not to continue as a band. This is the end for Ang Bandang Shirley. We thank you for all your support and for listening to our music throughout the years,” said Ang Bandang Shirley.

This came after issues of grooming and sexual misconduct surrounded their co-member Emmanuel (Ean) Aguila.

Ang Bandang Shirley members, Debb Acebu, Paolo Arciga, Miggy Abesamis, and Kathy Gener, also shared their take on the said issues against Ean.

“This January, past allegations towards Ean resurfaced with new information, which has significantly affected the band and the members. Let it be known that we strongly do not condone his behavior, and we urged him to take full responsibility for his actions,” said the band.

Ang Bandang Shirley said Ean quit the band.

They wrote, “He made a statement and eventually decided to quit the band. We support this decision, and we sincerely hope for the healing of all parties involved.”

Ang Bandang Shirley started in the OPM scene in 2003 and is known for their songs “Nakauwi Na,” “Umaapaw,” “Siberia,” and many more.
